Leerdammer cheese is a real classic among Dutch cheeses with a rich history. Leerdammer originated in 1974, but the story behind it actually started much earlier. Businessman Cees Booterkooper bought a small dairy in the city of Leerdam in 1914, while at the same time retailer Bastiaan Baars managed a small cheese shop in the nearby village. In 1970 their paths crossed and they decided to jointly develop a new cheese. Leerdammer cheese, available in different variations and flavors, is the most popular cheese in Germany today. It is a unique cheese with a mild, creamy and characteristic taste.
Maasdam cheese is a unique, delicious Dutch cheese with large holes. The cheese is characterized by its large holes, which are created as a result of special preparation and an abnormal maturing process. During this maturing process, gas is formed inside the cheese. Because of these holes, the cheese is also called the Dutch Emmentaler. Maasdam is a semi-hard, creamy cheese with holes, which is prepared from cow's milk. Air bubbles are released in the cheese due to the formation of air bubbles during the maturing process. As a result, the taste of Maasdam cheese is sweet and nutty. Maasdam cheese is available as a cheese wheel and in block form.
Tynjetaler is a special cheese from Kaasboerderij De Gelder. The cheese was created by accident during experiments with different starter formulas. The cheese is characterized by its very own taste. initially the cheese was only sold on the cheese farm. But then something special happened: customers specifically asked for the cheese with that special taste. Reason enough to further develop the cheese to perfection. And so the Tynjetaler became a fact. The Tynjetaler is a round cheese with large holes. The cheese has a creamy, slightly sweet and slightly spicy taste. A creamy, surprising cheese.
